Sioux Falls, South Dakota – October 26, 2021. Prairie Family Business Association, an outreach center of the Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota, awarded the Edward Shorma Excellence in Family Business Award on Oct. 14 to the Bullinger Family of Western Products. This award is presented annually to a local Fargo/Moorhead family business.
Western Products was founded in 1948 by Peter Schuck and was purchased by the Bullinger Family in 1984. In its over 70 years in business, Western Products has grown to be one of the largest home improvement companies in the upper Midwest. Western Products’ commitment to customer-focused service and a positive workplace culture have earned them the Renewal by Andersen’s Green Diamond Service Award for customer satisfaction, as well as being named one of the 50 Best Places to Work by Prairie Business Magazine.
“The Bullinger Family has been intentional about spending time working on their business. The more we see families spend focused time with each other working on their future goals and plans, the more likely they are to have a successful transition. We’re pleased to recognize the Bullinger Family and be a part of their family business journey,” states Stephanie Larscheid, Prairie Family Business Association’s Executive Director.
The Edward Shorma Excellence in Family Business Award was established by the Shorma Family in 2015 to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of family-owned businesses to the economy and the region. This award recognizes multi-generational family businesses with practices and policies that positively impact local business, as well as the neighboring community.
“We’re grateful to the Shorma Family for their support of family businesses and their willingness to help fellow family-owned businesses. The Shorma Family was a founding member of Prairie Family Business Association 30 years ago, and we’re honored to be a part of their family business journey,” stated Larscheid.
