Prairie Family Business Association announces nominations are open for two family business awards.
Two awards that recognize and celebrate multigenerational family businesses that positively impact the local economy and the neighboring region are now accepting nominations.
For Fargo-area family businesses, the Edward Shorma Excellence in Family Business Award was established by the Shorma family through the Prairie Family Business Association in 2015. For Sioux Falls-area family businesses, the Boyd Hopkins Sr. Excellence in Family Business Award was created in 2003.
The Edward Shorma Excellence in Family Business Award was created by the Shorma family to recognize their father’s entrepreneurial spirit that founded eight companies with more than 1,000 employees manufacturing with everything from metal to wood, rubber, plastic and fabric products.
The Shorma family is a founding member of Prairie Family Business Association and has experienced the value of the networking and resources the association offers to help family businesses of all sizes thrive for generations.
The Boyd Hopkins Sr. Excellence in Family Business Award has been named in honor of Boyd Hopkins Sr. since 2010. The Hopkins family owns and operates CorTrust Bank.
“Family businesses make tremendous impacts on the communities where they are located. We thank the Shorma and Hopkins families for bringing recognition and awareness to the importance of family-owned businesses in the Fargo and Sioux Falls communities.”
The Edward Shorma Excellence in Family Business Award’s nomination deadline is September 13th followed by the Boyd Hopkins Sr. Excellence in Family Business Award’s nomination deadline on September 30th.
